And you don't understand how things are gonna change for you,
Try as I do.
And Do You Get It
Do You Get It
Do You Get,
Get What I'm Saying To You - "Do You Get It" Nervewreck
I'm gonna go back to a favorite topic of mine and try to expand. But first, the last few weeks have been crazy the blog has not been consistent because of a loss in the family and at the same time, success with Nervewreck. It was Monday night actually and my guitarist called to see if I got something in the mail from the publishing company we are under. Low and behold it was a royalty check. I won't disclose an amount that would be rude but this gave us proof that our hard work is paying off, which leads me back to the topic of branding.
Within rock and roll you learn to brand yourself quick, You see what you want to personify, you try to create a unique sound, you decide what category you want to be classified in, because after all you are in control of the situation. The same goes for marketing, branding yourself here and outside of these realms opens a surefire door of getting your name out there. Now this goes way beyond the name and the logo.
You have to have the personality your actions and on the Internet the words or text that convey what you have. You also have to believe it, you can't be fake. Look at it as a way of life, it's your style. See I combine rock into every aspect of my life. I am rock, rock is me, I use phrases that are what I call "rocking phrases" through my ads, my personal emails, the clothes I wear, even the way I work. You think a rock musician doesn't work hard but they do.
It takes a long time to create a song. It then takes a constant repetitiveness's of practice in learning the song, and for the song to be good it needs a good hook or tag line, sound familiar? It's the same for your business, get the idea out there, learn what works and what doesn't, yes the logo is important, but for it to be good it has to be you. If you are having problems let me know by posting a comment I will continue to expand on this Rocking Your Success Topic. Below is the link to the previous post on this topic.

The Day in a Life
"Woke up, got out of bed, Dragged a comb across my head Found my way downstairs and drank a cup, And looking up I noticed I was late. Found my coat and grabbed my hat Made the bus in seconds flat Found my way upstairs and had a smoke, And somebody spoke and I went into a dream"
-- A Day in the Life, The Beatles
So it's been about two weeks since I came back from my convention, and reality kicked in. I found myself not even being able to get close to a computer, this week was better and next week will get easier. I wouldn't say I'm having to start over, I'm just playing catch-up. One thing that caught my attention though is someone, actually a friend, said on Monday "Hey, when is your next post I look forward to reading them!" Well I was taken back, wow people do read this! Well this forced me to reposition my schedule, because I know with the bands, the job and most importantly this, I can't get to everything but by doubling my productivity on the days I'm not gone all day I will. Even as I write this I've got a gig tonight with Nervewreck at the Engine Room, that's 1515 Pease Downtown Houston at 11:30pm, for anyone reading this in H-town or anyone else today wanting to hop on their private jet and fly down.
Now note that I didn't do nothing in my business, there was one thing that was working for me even when I wasn't at my computer. If your not familar with traffic exchanges let me tell you how it works. You put up your ad, you surf other ads and get credits towards your ad going out across the world. True advertising sources usually cost a lot of money, but not this one it's actually free to sign-up! Does it work? Really? In one word yes.
Not only is it free, it takes 5 minutes to set up, you get real targeted traffic and it's viral meaning your traffic will increase exponentially. As long as you're clicking your getting traffic! So I'll give you the link now to a great traffic exchange that I have found to be the best so far.
It's called Traffic Swarm and your gonna love it.

Conventional Days
So I'm out of town and at a convention for my primary business till Sunday. I've had a lot of problems getting an internet connection so I'm a day late with this blog. I've been really busy meeting and learning new things and people. This has really opened my eyes to what I hold in my hands and so I want to talk to you my good friend about why it's so important to go to your primary's convention.
We, as humans, get really set in our ways, especially in this business. A business that we do at home means usually we promote the products we sell on faith, but when you go to your primary's convention that faith goes away and becomes a sureness in our lives. Why? You get to see the products first hand with expert knowledge. You meet other like-minded individuals who are passionate about what they are doing. Plus, you get motivated about achieving the goals you have.
You basically have a greater knowledge once you leave convention. A knowledge that brings power, power that gives you the ability to push you to the next level, whatever that level maybe. Everyone should go to their primary convention, and I think it should be mandatory for every business person. Don't worry about how, that will just give you excuses on why not to go, instead let me leave you with a great quote from a great man.
"Two roads diverged in a wood and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." -Robert Frost

Power Down
So my grandmother, who I called Mema, has for the last two years been bed ridden because of a stroke that caused her to be paralyzed. At 7:07pm CST last night I got the call from my dad saying she had finally passed on. So why have I not shed any tears?
Knowing that she was suffering, her asking me and my family to put her out of her misery when we couldn't, and Hospice taking over there was nothing we could do but wait. When the call came I had more relief the sorrow because she is no longer in pain. My concern turned to my family and how they are handling her death because I know I am fine.
If you could only lay in bed crippled so you can't write, you can barley hold anything and all you can do is think. This caused my Mema to think people were out to get her, she would hear parts of conversations and twist them in her head. But this is the same problem that we have in life.
When you get overwhelmed, fear sets in and it sets in hard. We get scared when we have new things to understand or when things are out of control. All you can do is press on even when things or people power down. It might seem cold, but you have to go on no matter how hard it is. I'm becoming the one in my family, and in business that is the leader and a leader helps those that need it. Right now my family needs me but that doesn't mean I have to stop working I have to do double time, family and work, because like I said last week the only moment is NOW!

Now
Are you caught up to much in the past? Maybe you are a person that only worries about what is coming in the future, worrying about how you plan to take care of things. All I can say is why? That's right, why? Why worry, why cause yourself extra stress?
The past, I believe has a lot to do with who we are now, childhood, your young adult years, and even the later adult years. At the same time once those moments are gone you can't get them back, many people don't consider this and scream and fight the future because they want to still relive their glory days instead of just moving on. "Seniors '84 Rule!" Is it starting to sink in?
Thinking about the future is great sometimes, like what life would be like when you have that great big house, car, or what ever your goal is. Worrying about the future and how it's going to take place is wrong. For instance, "I need money for these medical bills how am I going to pay these by the end of the month?" If you concentrate on the how of the question you focus on the how itself, not the actual paying off bills. And I hear you say, "Somebody has to worry about it you're not going to pay them for me!" True but your not in the moment that you should be in.
Now, this moment in time, this exact moment is now! And that's all you should be concerned with, because the time it took you to read the last few paragraphs is gone and obviously 5 minutes from now or the next day can't happen until you get to the moment and at that time it would be, well now! The point my dear friends is that you need to let fear and worry take a backseat. Live in the moment and reach your goals by using now as a springboard to your future and Rock Your Success!

Your Fired!
It happens to all of us. Either you have a good job that you decide you don't want anymore, or you work a job you think is good and the boss says all of the sudden, "It's not working out, we have to let you go." What happens now? It used to be that I would be devastated and would become depressed and angry because I work hard and do what is asked of me to the best of my abilities. Now a days it just means it's, too me, another stepping stone towards my success.
At the end of this blog I'm going to give you a URL that will have all of this make sense, something that has pushed me to not get overwhelmed. Look if you took all the jobs in the U.S., every single one we have today and shipped it to China it still would have a labor surplus. The U.S Department of Labor estimated that today's learner is going to have 10 - 14 jobs by the time they turn 38. The department also stated 1 out of 4 workers today is working for a company they have been employed by, get this, only less than a year 1 out of 2 are working for a company they've only been with less than five years. What does this all mean?
Change without fear, you can say you have no fear, but it's in all humans. We fear change just look at technology today compared to just a few years ago. It's booming, well over 2.7 billion searches are done on Google every month, and there are still people that don't even have a dvd player, some people don't even a computer, in the U.S. Is it because they can't afford it? No! I know many well off people that don't have dvd players or computers and when you ask them they say they like the old fashioned ways or it's a fad.
Well the internet and business done at the speed of light is not a fad it's here to stay. What is a fad is the old fashioned ways of doing business. Now I know many people who will continue to work 9 to 5 at a job they can't stand and it will be true for network marketing. You see many people come and go in this business, they won't even make it past two months, because they get overwhelmed and don't think others are out to help them, they are just there to hurt them. This could not be further from the truth. In my time in network marketing I have learned more than I ever did in college, because what I have is exactly like business school without the classroom for those who like and want to help others. The great thing is the people around me help me as I help them. "Pay it Forward" a great movie that if you haven't seen you need to so you can understand the term, go get a dvd player! This is the future and you are on the crest of the wave. You need to ride it plain and simple.
Don't get scared, don't doubt, understand, learn, and grow and then help others do the same. Alright URL time. This is a power point video that my dad showed me way before I came across "The Secret" it's called "Shift Happens" it puts not just the U.S. into prospective but the world. Here's the link: http://my.break.com/media/view.aspx?ContentID=247198 . Get ready and don't blink. Remember Rock your Success it's worth it.

The Making Of Time
"Well I got some time some time to lose, but ask me for your time and I got no time for you." - Time by Nervewreck
We wrote this song when I was at a weird place. A place that most people are in no matter where they are in life. In your day to day life many things take up time, day jobs, family, kids, friends, hobbies and whatever else that gets thrown at you. Let me ask two questions, do you set aside time for yourself? Do you make time for others? If you said yes to both of these questions then you've got time. If you said no, then change what your doing and make time. Why?
In business and especially network marketing, you absolutely have to make time, I'm not talking an hour once a week, I'm talking about everyday. How? Scheduling, yeah, it's as simple as that. Many people want money and they want it now, too many don't want to do the work to get the money. Many people strive to make the money but only work for it once and a while, then get frustrated when things don't go there way. It's totally your decision, but be truthful, do you wake up with a plan of action knowing that each day will be different? Or do you let life control you?
Wake up, eat breakfast, go to work, go home deal with the kids watch T.V., go to bed, wake up and do it again. In a world like that when something extra breaks the routine, you break. How do I know? I was at that point a selfish point. Until you make a plan of action and stick to it you will never get out of your rut. Look at it this way, if you had 25 hours in a day what would you do with the extra hour? If it's something you would need an extra hour for then put that in to the main 24 hours and act on it. I want you to sit down right now and create a plan of action find out what time of day you have is free. Maybe it's only an hour, in that hour improve yourself by reading a book or something motivational, learn something new or improve your business skills. Whatever you do make sure it helps and does not hinder you. Remember idle hands are the devil's chew toy.
With your plan, if you don't accomplish all your goals that day, make the commitment that those goals must be completed before the next day is done. You won't get behind, you'll only get better. So the lyric I quoted should go like this after your change, " And I got no time no time to lose, ask me for your time and it's for me and you." Helping yourself will only help others, yes that's true even for people you hardly know. So make the plan and Rock It Out! Success comes to those who give back. Give and you'll get it back whatever it is.

Follow My Lead
Follow my lead, follow the leader, lead by example, and leaders in the industry are phrases we hear constantly in life, but do you actually do it? Most people don't lead especially in a 9 to 5 job. Most people in a traditional job are told what to do by a higher up and just follow the leader. Basically do it or you don't have a job is what I've come across over the years. Many of you that are starting out in network marketing are students right now, learning how to put all this together, but eventually the student must leave the temple.
What am I talking about? Well, I believe that we are always learning, and what we learn must be passed on. So when the student does leave the temple he becomes a teacher whether they share their knowledge or not, and there are many who are teachers but don't teach. I'm not saying you have to have an academic planner or be in a classroom. I'm talking about small things that make you a leader.
When changes happen, like a different phone number for a meeting or conference, or someone gets stuck not knowing what to do next in this business, it's your job not as a leader but as someone who has been there as a newbie to guide them to the right concept. It might not be the only concept but what you know guides those who are with you. As with the different phone number, it's your duty as a leader to notify your members of the number change. If you never alert someone about a change in the business then not only can they not succeed, you can't either! This is not about being on top of your game, this is about growing as a person.
Leadership is more than telling people what to do. To me it's about helping, helping those that were where you were. It's better to give than to receive. You've heard this many times probably but the words ring true and if you never really thought about this phrase, I suggest you start giving back in anyway possible, by being there for those in your business, helping and nourishing thought with your members. When they get it you get rewarded with more than income, you get rewarded with the knowledge that you have tools people believe and want. So follow my lead and go out and start helping those that want to learn. My help to all of you is the link I have on my blog page for a very helpful book called "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill.

What's In A Name?
-Hold on for dear life, love songs for whose right- Hold On by Nervewreck
What's in a name? Everything. McDonald's, Wal Mart, Kiss, U2, and any product you buy, listen to, or watch it all has to do with a favorite topic of mine, Branding! Maybe it's because it's very similar to my first name Brandon, but I've always liked trying to get my name or the things I do known to the masses. This is exactly what the companies I mentioned above did, and yes I do consider bands a type of company or organization. So before I go into detail about Branding let's "Double Back In Time", to the 1980's.
Now I was born in a small town called Pittsburg, Texas. This town was so small that to do most anything like watch movies, eat at Pizza Hut or do anything fun, you had to travel 10 miles to another town called Mount Pleasant, Texas, and before things went super or mega in the 90's there was one place everybody went called Wal Mart. Wal Mart was much smaller in those days, no supermarket, no tire and lube shop, just clothing, crafts, a few household items, and not much else. This small little store was in competition with Kmart and TG&Y, anybody remember TG&Y? Anyway, Wal Mart really took a drastic change by starting to get rid of the small Wal Marts and started the ever worldly popular Wal Mart Supercenter. I even worked at the one in Mount Pleasant for about 2 months, and why? The answer I can give personally is well the logo, the name, and that familiar feeling I had going in there as a child influenced the decision to work there. Fast forward to the 21st Century!
The small company that started out in Arkansas, is now global and what was a household name for many small southern towns is everyday talk for Europe, South America, or any place basically with a population. In fact I can give you directions to about 5 different Wal Mart's close to me in Houston, Texas. What did they do that was so different from the 80's to now? Nothing but expansion and that simply takes time. The Logo never changed, it's more colorful now, but the lettering is the same. The service and products sold never changed, expansion allowed for more products and service. With the miracle of the Internet, and if you are not within a 20 to 40 mile radius of a Wal Mart, you just hop to their site and order from there.
In no way do I promote anything for Wal Mart, I'm just using the corporation as an example for successful Branding. You see, people in general fear change, and with the world changing it seems like every few minutes, people react more to something constant. My band Nervewreck does it, we developed our sound, our look and when people catch on "they hold on for dear life," that's a line from one of our songs. Anyone successful will tell you that Branding is key to taking that small little company or that home based business to the results you want.
Remember that the name should be short, to the point, and that what your selling is not a product but yourself, even if your working with others. Collaboration is also key in business but still each individual wants a part of themselves shown in the company. You don't need to spend countless sleepless nights figuring out the perfect name, but the name you pick will stay with you for life, or at least for the life of your company. So start advertising your name, get your logo out there and in time you'll start seeing the results. Still here? What are you waiting for? Go Brand yourself and Rock Your Success!

What Would Gene Simmons Do?
Rock bands will come and rock bands will go, some are memorable and some disappear, but one thing is for sure, those that have been mainstays had marketing and business goals behind the music. U2, Everclear, and especially Kiss had one person with his eye on the prize. If you've recently watched "Family Jewels" on A&E or read anything on Mr. Simmons you will notice one thing that stands out, he is a businessman. Mr. Simmons is simply put, in the business of making money not just an income, but residual income and much of it.
When you mostly think of Rockstars, you assume that they instantly have a great life and are wealthy, but it took a while, yes it took time to build that wealth. Kiss got tons of hits and made a ton of royalties off those hits. Now before I go any further understand that one royalty doesn't make you rich especially when you consider in the factor of the record company taking a cut, and you may not even make ten cents off the one royalty. Yes Kiss got a lot of royalties, but they went further with ticket sales from concerts, sales from merchandise, doing interviews, signings and anything else to keep them in the public eye to keep making money.
Mr. Simmons knew that Kiss the band was not always going to be there, but the name would, a household name. Think about it, generations and generations know who Gene Simmons is and more importantly who Kiss is. Kiss hasn't performed together in awhile and Mr. Simmons still make money of the name and other things. What other things? Well let me spare telling you about the bull semen episode on "Family Jewels", and instead let you know that Gene Simmons invests in many things to make residual income, multiple streams of income. He is always looking for ways to make income, and that is what we all should be doing.
Two important things to remember in rock and roll, network marketing, or anything you do in life, is branding yourself and advertising yourself. Even in a regular job you brand yourself as a good worker or a bad worker and promote yourself or advertise yourself in your office to hopefully get to the top. I'll talk more about branding in my next post, but want to help you start advertising yourself by giving you a rocking little tip. Whether you're experienced or a novice you might be familiar with surfing traffic sites, if you have several that you surf, like I do, a good idea is to bookmark all those sites, I use Firefox as a browser so I have the ability to open all my tabs and go left to right to surf, and be sure to put your ads up, it's pointless to surf unless your advertising yourself. So keep rocking and rolling all night and making money everyday!

On The Eighth Count, It's 1...2...3...
Sometimes we get overwhelmed, it's only human. When you have a lot coming to you at once you want to speed everything up. That's when you need a steady pace to keep you on track. You have to stay on the steady track and just like a band you have to keep working.
If you set out a schedule you'll get further in what ever goal you are working towards. We all have different mini goals but in network marketing we are all working to a larger goal by helping and learning from each other. The main goal and focus is your members. If your members are learning are you as well? And if you're being helped can you help your members? Most importantly are you completing your goals on a daily basis. Well are you? If the answer is no, then it's time to slow down and steady your beat. Writing things down helps keep you on track as well.
When you start your day, wake up with a take charge feeling telling yourself you're thankful and happy for the goal already being done, I personally, meditate every morning, then write down what I want to accomplish that day. This actually makes the day more effective. Schedule your day today because you can't predict the future you can only plan. Like the eye of a hurricane you're safe not out of danger but things are calm, looking out of the eye you can see chaos, with out focus you'll wind up back in the carnage of the twister. For all you old schoolers yes life will "Rock You Like A Hurricane." But for those that play the beat steady and practice it everyday life will be so calm and natural without you worrying if it all can be done.
So the title of this post should make sense for some by now. I'm gonna tell you though how I got it. We were practicing a new song last night and the guitarist tells the drummer "It may seem you wanna play faster but on the eighth count it's 1... 2.. 3..." That said you might be pushed going faster but you can only do as much as you can do. Steady is much better than chaotic, am I right? Rock the hurricane don't let it rock you.
By the way the link to my band's website is at the bottom of my favorite links off to the right of this page. Stop by and say hi!

The First Song
In a band when you figure out what you have in common music-wise, for instance the chords, rhythm, and tempo at which your gonna play a song, and what role each person plays like guitarists and songwriters. After months of figuring it all out, the first song comes around. Now unless you're God's gift to music you're first song isn't going to be your best song and it won't bring you millions from that one song. The first song represents all that hard work that brought you to the point of writing whatever you wrote. This is the same in business, especially network marketing.
Whether it's two months to six months however long it takes, if you're diligent and keep learning the pay off comes, but with more rewards than you could have imagined. All from using the tools you learned. Knowledge is power and power within oneself is the greatest power one can have. While it may have taken a while to learn to make that first song, the second song doesn't seem to take as long to create, and the fourth gets easier than the third and so on. Think about a song as members in your downline.
You start off slow, let's say it took a week or two or even a month to get your first member, excited you try to get more, but you're still learning things, don't get caught up thinking about that one member. Sure you still work with that member to help them like you've been helped and you always look to make any song better no matter how long you've had it or how many you have. By the time you write 50 songs, or in other words by the time you get 50 members, you have gotten to that point by implementing what you've learned and applying it in a manner that took less effort and time than it did to get that first song or member. So remember one song may take a while but in the months to come there will be so many more. Focus and determination are key to your success with anything you do. Keep on Rocking Your Success to the Top of the Pops!

Tuning Up
"Brandon one day your going to have to make a decision, what will you do, work or play?"- my Parents
This question was asked when I was just a small child, guess what I said? I told my parents, "I would much rather play than work." Unfortunately this is not how my life panned out, and recently I realized work was all I was doing. Waking up at 5 or 4 in the morning to be at work by 7 work all day till 7 at night, being so tired that all I could do was sleep just to make the next day. There was no time to take care of things, there was no time to take care of myself. Now when I started working in network marketing the whirlwind slowed down a bit I could finally gather my thoughts. That's not to say that marketing isn't a whirlwind, it can be quite overwhelming if your just starting out.
Just remember those that are working with you started out much like you, no experience, being scared of what was ahead, and ready, almost eagerly to make money online. The one thing that makes them different is they took the time to build their business. I'll put that in a form I'm best familiar with music.
Much like network marketing, music has many different lessons and paths that you can choose to know and work in. I myself was always a singer. I did opera, musicals, jazz, you name it. Not until I was in my late 20's did I start an original rock band. I had some idea of what to do, I mean I knew I could sing but I didn't know how to write a pop song with someone. It took time and because we wanted it we kept at it. We made our first CD in 2005 and are recording are second CD now. Sure we've wanted to give up but our drive kept us going, passion is key!
If your not passionate about what your doing what are you doing it for? Your passion and determination is what drives you to your goal and you cannot forget that it takes time to build anything. What I'm trying to say is don't get discouraged, because success is not overnight it will take time, but the rewards will be bountiful for sticking it out. So Rock On! And Remember a guitar has to be tuned first before you can get the right notes and even then you have to put your fingers on the strings to play the notes, tune your business, put your fingers on its strings and the right notes will soon follow.
